These Caprese Skewers are a stunning yet simple appetizer that always impresses. Featuring the classic combination of sweet cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil, these vibrant bites are perfect for parties, picnics, or a stylish snack. Assemble them in under 15 minutes for a timeless crowd-pleaser.

  • Total Time: 15
  • Yield: 10-12 skewers

Ingredients

1 pint (approx. 2 cups) Cherry tomatoes

1 cup (approx. 8 oz) Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)

1 large bunch Fresh basil leaves

3 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar (or glaze)

1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

10-12 Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

1. Prep the Ingredients: Rinse tomatoes and basil. Pat the mozzarella balls completely dry with a paper towel. Whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

2. Thread the Skewers: Thread one skewer through a cherry tomato, a mozzarella ball, and finally a basil leaf. Repeat this pattern until all ingredients are used.

3. Arrange and Drizzle: Place assembled skewers on a serving tray. Drizzle the oil and vinegar mixture (or balsamic glaze) evenly over the top.

4. Season and Serve: Give a final light sprinkle of salt and pepper. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Use cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls of similar size for a uniform, professional look.

• Pat the mozzarella very dry so the dressing adheres properly.

• If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes beforehand.

• Assemble up to 4 hours ahead; store covered in the fridge and add dressing just before serving.

Variations:

• Add a folded piece of prosciutto or salami for a meaty version.

• Use a balsamic glaze instead of vinegar for a thicker, sweeter, and more glossy finish.

• Add a small piece of peach or watermelon for a sweet-and-salty twist.
