No reviews

Caprese skewers are a delightful, bite-size version of the classic Italian salad. By threading juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella pearls, and fragrant basil leaves onto simple skewers, you create a vibrant and portable appetizer that looks gorgeous on any platter. It is a no-cook, crowd-pleasing dish that perfectly balances sweet, savory, and herbaceous flavors—ideal for picnics, parties, or an elegant snack.

  • Total Time: 15
  • Yield: 24-30 skewers

Ingredients

24-30 Cherry tomatoes

24-30 Mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini)

24-30 Fresh basil leaves

3 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil

2 tbsp Balsamic glaze

Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

24-30 Wooden or metal skewers (6-inch)

Instructions

1. Prep: Pat cherry tomatoes dry with a paper towel. Have mozzarella and basil ready.

2. Assemble: Thread a cherry tomato, a mozzarella ball, and a folded basil leaf onto each skewer. Repeat until skewers are mostly full, leaving space at the ends.

3. Season: Place assembled skewers on a serving platter.

4. Drizzle: Whisk olive oil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Drizzle over the skewers.

5. Finish: Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving for a sweet and tangy finish.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Pat tomatoes dry before assembling to ensure the skewer doesn’t become slippery or soggy.

• Tear large basil leaves rather than chopping them to prevent bruising and maximize aroma.

• If making ahead, assemble the skewers but hold off on drizzling with oil and glaze until just before serving.

Variations:

• Avocado Twist: Add a chunk of firm avocado for extra creaminess (toss in lime juice first to prevent browning).

• Protein Add: Thread a piece of folded prosciutto onto the skewer.

• Grilled: Briefly grill the assembled skewers over high heat for 1 minute for a smoky, warm flavor profile.
