  • Total Time: 65
  • Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

Cake Batter:

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ¾ cup Plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup Milk
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Crumble Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter, cold
  • ½ tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips (for topping)

Instructions

1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. Dry Mix: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

3. Cream: Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy (2-3 mins). Add eggs one at a time.

4. Wet Mix: Add Greek yogurt and milk; mix until combined.

5. Combine: Slowly add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.

6. Topping: Pulse cold butter, cinnamon, flour, and brown sugar until crumbly.

7. Bake: Spread batter in pan, sprinkle with topping and remaining ¼ cup chocolate chips. Bake 35-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.

8. Cool: Cool in pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Room Temp: Use room temperature butter, eggs, and yogurt for the smoothest batter and tender crumb.
  • Topping Texture: Keep butter cold for the crumble topping to ensure nice, pea-sized crumbs.
  • Don’t Overmix: Mix the dry ingredients just until they disappear; overmixing creates a tough cake.
  • Storage: Keep covered at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for 5 days.
  • Freezing: Freezes beautifully! Wrap well and freeze for up to 3 months.
