The Mimosa is the quintessential brunch cocktail, effortlessly blending crisp, dry sparkling wine with vibrant, tangy orange juice. This iconic drink is the definition of celebratory, and because it takes mere minutes to prepare, it is the perfect solution for effortless hosting. By focusing on well-chilled ingredients and a precise ratio, you can consistently serve a sparkling drink that is never flat and always perfectly balanced.

  • Total Time: 2
  • Yield: 1 cocktail

Ingredients

3 oz (90ml) Champagne or Dry (Brut) Sparkling Wine

3 oz (90ml) Freshly squeezed, pulp-free orange juice

Orange slices or twists (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Chill: Ensure your sparkling wine and orange juice are thoroughly chilled in the refrigerator beforehand. Chill your glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.

2. Pour Juice: Pour 3 ounces of cold, pulp-free orange juice into the bottom of each chilled flute.

3. Top with Wine: Holding the flute at an angle, slowly pour 3 ounces of chilled sparkling wine down the inside of the glass to maintain carbonation.

4. Garnish & Serve: Add an orange slice or twist to the rim. Serve immediately while the drink is fresh and bubbly.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• The classic ratio is 1:1, but feel free to adjust to 2:1 (wine to juice) if you prefer a drier, stronger cocktail.

• Always use pulp-free juice; if squeezing fresh, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to ensure a smooth, elegant texture.

• Pour the sparkling wine slowly down the side of the glass to preserve the bubbles.

Variations:

• Poinsettia: Substitute half the orange juice with cranberry juice.

• Greyhound Mimosa: Use grapefruit juice instead of orange juice.

• Mocktailosa: Use non-alcoholic sparkling wine or high-quality sparkling water for a refreshing, alcohol-free version.
