Fruit kabobs are a vibrant, refreshing treat that work perfectly for picnics, parties, or a healthy snack. By threading bite-size pieces of seasonal fruit onto skewers, you create a colorful, portable dessert that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. They are simple, customizable, and feel indulgent without any added fats.

  • Total Time: 15
  • Yield: 12 kabobs

Ingredients

1 cup Strawberries, hulled and halved

1 cup Pineapple, cut into 1-inch chunks

1 cup Seedless grapes (red or green)

2 medium Kiwi, peeled and sliced into half-moons

1 cup Cantaloupe, cut into 1-inch cubes

½ cup Blueberries

12 Wooden skewers (6-inch), soaked in water for 20 minutes

Optional Honey-Lime Drizzle: 2 tbsp honey + 1 tbsp fresh lime juice

Instructions

1. Prep: Wash, dry, and cut all fruit into uniform, bite-size pieces (approx. 1-inch).

2. Drizzle: Whisk honey and lime juice together in a small bowl if using.

3. Assemble: Thread fruit onto soaked skewers in a repeating pattern of colors and textures (e.g., strawberry, pineapple, grape, kiwi, cantaloupe, blueberry). Leave space at ends for handling.

4. Serve: Arrange on a serving platter. Drizzle with the honey-lime mixture just before serving, or serve the drizzle on the side.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Pat fruit dry with paper towels after washing to prevent the skewers from becoming slippery or soggy.

• Assemble ahead of time and store in a single layer on a tray covered with plastic wrap, but wait to drizzle until just before serving.

• For fruits that brown easily (like apples or bananas), toss them in a little lemon or lime juice before skewering.

Variations:

• Tropical: Include mango, papaya, and coconut chunks.

• Berry Medley: Combine strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.

• Dessert Twist: Drizzle with melted dark chocolate or sprinkle with toasted coconut.
