There’s something magical about the first sip of a perfectly crafted agua fresca on a hot summer day. This Honeydew Melon Agua Fresca with Lime captures the essence of summer in a glass – a harmonious blend of sweet, juicy melon and zesty lime that dances on your palate. The vibrant green hue alone is enough to make your mouth water, but it’s the refreshing taste that will keep you coming back for more.

  • Total Time: 40
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

4 cups Honeydew melon, cubed

1/4 cup Lime juice, freshly squeezed

2 cups Cold water

1/4 cup Sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

Ice cubes (as needed)

Instructions

1. Prepare the melon by cutting it in half, removing the seeds, and scooping out the flesh. Cut into cubes and measure out 4 cups.

2. Place the melon cubes in a blender and add the cold water. Blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 1-2 minutes.

3. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher and pour the blended mixture through it. Use a spatula to gently press the solids and extract as much liquid as possible.

4. Add the fresh lime juice and sugar (or honey) to the strained liquid. Stir well until the sweetener is completely dissolved.

5. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Remember that flavors will mellow slightly when chilled.

6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the drink to chill thoroughly.

7. Before serving, stir well and pour over ice in glasses. Garnish with lime wedges or melon balls if desired.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Choose a ripe honeydew melon; it should feel heavy for its size and have a sweet aroma at the stem end.

• For the smoothest texture, blend the melon in batches if needed.

• Chill all ingredients before blending for an instantly refreshing drink that doesn’t require as much ice.

Variations:

• Add a handful of fresh mint leaves during blending for a refreshing herbal note.

• Add a splash of tequila or vodka for an adult version.

• Blend in a few chunks of pineapple or mango for a tropical twist.
