There’s something magical about the combination of sweet pineapple and juicy strawberries. When blended together with cold water and a hint of lime, they create an agua fresca that tastes like sunshine in a glass. This vibrant, non-alcoholic beverage has been a staple in Mexican households for generations, offering the perfect way to cool down on hot summer days.

  • Total Time: 40
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

3 cups Fresh pineapple chunks

2 cups Fresh strawberries, hulled

4 cups Cold water

2 tablespoons Lime juice

1/4 cup Sugar (or to taste)

Ice cubes (as needed)

Instructions

1. Prepare your fruit by washing the strawberries thoroughly and cutting the pineapple into chunks, removing the tough core.

2. Combine the pineapple chunks, hulled strawberries, cold water, lime juice, and sugar in a high-powered blender.

3. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth and no fruit chunks remain visible.

4. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher and pour the blended mixture through, using a spatula to press out all the liquid. Discard the remaining pulp or save it for smoothies.

5. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed, adding more sugar or lime juice depending on your preference.

6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the drink to chill thoroughly.

7. Stir well before serving over ice and garnish with fresh strawberry slices or pineapple wedges if desired.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Use the ripest fruit possible; overripe pineapple and strawberries are naturally sweeter.

• For a smoother texture, strain your blended mixture twice through a fine-mesh strainer.

• Chill all ingredients before blending for an instantly refreshing drink.

Variations:

• Add a handful of fresh mint leaves during blending for a refreshing herbal twist.

• Replace half the water with coconut water for added electrolytes.

• Include a small piece of peeled ginger for a spicy kick.
