This Strawberry Salsa with Chocolate Chips is a delightful confection that blurs the line between dessert and appetizer. It’s bursting with fresh fruit flavor, a hint of tang from lime, and those irresistible pockets of chocolate. Surprisingly easy to make, it’s perfect for dipping, topping, or simply spooning.

  • Total Time: 25
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

2 cups (about 12 oz) Fresh strawberries, hulled and diced

2 tablespoons Granulated sugar

1 tablespoon Fresh lime juice

1 tablespoon Fresh mint leaves, finely chopped

1/4 cup Miniature chocolate chips

A pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Place the diced strawberries in a medium serving bowl.

2. Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the strawberries and toss gently to coat.

3. Drizzle the fresh lime juice over the sugared strawberries and toss again to combine.

4. Add the finely chopped fresh mint and a tiny pinch of salt. Toss gently.

5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour, to allow the flavors to meld.

6. Just before serving, sprinkle the miniature chocolate chips over the top. Gently fold in about half of them, leaving the rest scattered on top for presentation.

Notes

Pro-Tips:

• Dice strawberries into a uniform 1/4-inch dice for the perfect balance in every spoonful.

• Do not add the chocolate chips until just before serving to keep them intact.

• Add a teaspoon of finely grated orange zest for an extra layer of flavor.

• Serve with shortbread cookies, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or over vanilla ice cream.

Variations:

• Swap half the strawberries for diced ripe mango for a deeper flavor profile.

• Add a finely diced jalapeño (seeds removed) for a sweet heat kick.

• Use white or dark chocolate chips depending on your preference.

• Replace sugar with honey for a more floral sweetness.
