Skip the drive-thru line and make this creamy Vanilla Bean Frappuccino right at home! This Starbucks copycat recipe captures that signature rich vanilla flavor and frosty texture without a drop of coffee. It takes less than 5 minutes to blend up and costs a fraction of the price.

  • Total Time: 5
  • Yield: 1 Grande (16oz)

Ingredients

— The Drink —

1 1/2 cups ice cubes

1 cup whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)

2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to sweetness preference)

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (for the specks!) or high-quality vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum (optional, see notes)

— Topping —

Whipped cream

Additional vanilla bean paste or white sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

1. **Combine:** Add the ice cubes, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla bean paste, and xanthan gum (if using) into a high-powered blender.

2. **Blend:** Blend on high speed for 30–45 seconds. Listen for the sound of the ice being fully crushed; the mixture should be completely smooth, thick, and creamy.

3. **Pour:** Pour the frappuccino into a tall glass.

4. **Top & Serve:** Top generously with whipped cream and a tiny drizzle of vanilla paste if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

The Secret Ingredient: **Xanthan Gum** is the secret to a smooth, non-icy texture. It prevents the drink from separating into liquid and ice chunks. You can find it in the baking aisle of most grocery stores. If you skip it, the drink will still taste good but will be more like a slushy.

Vanilla Bean Paste vs. Extract: For that authentic look with little black specks, use vanilla bean paste. If you only have extract, it will taste just as delicious but won’t have the specks.

Make it ‘Caffè Vanilla’: If you want caffeine, add a chilled shot of espresso or 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder before blending.

Dairy-Free: This recipe works well with oat milk or soy milk for a creamy dairy-free version.
